Bacteria and fungi are both microorganisms that are believed to have been part of life on earth since life began here.
When you think of bacteria and fungus, you may think, “Yuk—these things are bad!” and indeed they are associated with infection and disease, but not all are bad. In fact many of them are good and even necessary for life to exist.
But as for the nasty guys, those bacteria and fungi that are harmful to us, these damaging microorganisms are responsible for illnesses and diseases like urinary tract infections, strep throat, and tuberculosis. Fungus, on the other hand, causes conditions like yeast infections, athlete’s foot, and more.
For these bad boys, there are things you can take orally or topically that kill the unwelcome guests. These are anti-bacterial and anti-fungal products or medications.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE?
Each one is formulated to destroy different things, so you have to pay attention to what product you’re getting for which problem. They can work in similar ways, but do not address the same things.
Products labeled “anti-bacterial” kill bacterial strains in a certain space, but usually leave a fungus alone.
Anti-fungals designed to inhibit the growth of and kill specific fungi, but aren’t much value for problems that are caused by bacteria.
And then there are some products that address both bacteria and fungus issues. Beauti Me offers our Therapeutic Body Lotion with Tea Tree and Mint. You can find it here:
